Domaine A. Pegaz
The Producer
Domaine A. Pegaz is an exceptional estate situated at the foot of Mont Brouilly in Odenas, right in the heart of the Beaujolais region. Spearheaded by fifth-generation winemaker Jean-François Pegaz, the family operates both Domaine A. Pegaz and its sister hill-slope estate, Domaine Baron de l’Ecluse. Anchored by a deep respect for the land, the estate practices sustainable viticulture with Terra Vitis certification and organic farming conversions. The vineyards benefit from rich granitic, schist, and limestone soils, creating an ideal environment for hand-harvested Gamay and Chardonnay vines ranging from 25 to over 60 years old.
The winemaking philosophy centers on low-intervention techniques—utilizing spontaneous wild-yeast fermentations, semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, minimal sulfur additions, and gentle aging on fine lees without fining. Domaine A. Pegaz produces expressive Beaujolais-Villages and Brouilly reds characterized by juicy, dark red fruit notes and vibrant floral aromatics, alongside a crisp Beaujolais Blanc and the sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne Plaisirs de Pégase. Their focus on terroir yields authentic, food-friendly wines that balance youthful exuberance with impressive structural finesse.
